Approximately 25 U of M students will be coming to Detroit to participate in a program known as Alternative Spring Break (ASB). More information is at https://umichasb.wordpress.com/. The students will be working on projects at the following organizations:
- Ruth Ellis Center in Highland Park, MI
- Cass Community Social Services in Detroit, MI
The Edward Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning, works on connecting U of M Alumni clubs with ASB students engaging in community service work. The students have expressed interest in learning more about the communities they visit, so we are asking our UMCGD Alum to participate in an outing with the students at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Saturday, March 7th, 2015. We will meet at 9:30am at the John R entrance for a group tour that starts at 10:00 am
Location/address, parking information, museum prices, parking prices, and general information is located at http://www.dia.org/about/
The museum is free for DIA members and residents of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, but since we are participating in a group tour, we need to confirm the number of UMCGD Alum attending the event, so ADVANCED PAYMENT to the U of M Club of Greater Detroit is required.
The cost for the event is $10.00, this will reserve your spot for the tour and will go towards a DIA gift card which you will be able to use in the museum. We will eat lunch as a group after the tour at Cafe DIA or Kresge Court.
