Christopher J. Bonkowski Brother Rice High School President's Scholarship 2010/2011
Christopher Bonkowski graduated from Brother Rice High School and is the other recipient of the President’s Scholarship. He participated in Robotics, Track & Field, Cross Country, Quiz Bowl, Soccer and Model United Nations. He was a member of the National Honor Society, a National Merit Semifinalist, recipient of the American Association of Physics Teachers 2009 Outstanding Student of the Year award and numerous other awards and accolades. He also took and excelled in several Advanced Placement courses while at Brother Rice High School.

Nicholas Carducci attended Eisenhower High School, where he compiled a sterling academic record. He participated in the National Honor Society, Varsity Football, Varsity Track, Spanish Club and tutoring. He is a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist, AP scholar with Honors and Academic All-County. He took numerous AP courses and participated in the Utica Center for Math, Science and Technology.
Chelsea L. Fournier Eisenhower High School Frederick C Matthaei Scholarship 2010/2011
Chelsea Fournier attended Eisenhower High School and is one of two recipients of the Frederick C. Matthael Scholarships. She also took classes at the Utica Center for Math, Science and Technology. She participated in FIRST Robotics, Marching Band, Student Council, National Honor Society, Relay for Life and Thunderquest Lego Robotics Competition. She also took numerous Advanced Placement courses within which she excelled.
Kelly M. Hahn Plymouth High School David J. Hallissey Memorial Scholarship 2010/2011
Kelly Hahn is the recipient of one of two David J. Hallissey Scholarships. Kelly graduated from Plymouth High School where she succeeded inside and outside the classroom. She participated in Varsity Track & Field, Varsity Cross-Country, National Honor Society, Mock Trial, Student Congress and Youth Group. She holds numerous school records in Track & Field. She also volunteered at her local library, church and YMCA.
Allessandra M. Janette Notre Dame Preparatory President's Scholarship 2010/2011
Allessandra Janette is one of two recipients of the President’s Scholarship. Allessandra attended Notre Dame Preparatory where she compiled an excellent academic record. She took numerous Advanced Placement courses. In high school, she was Vice President of the Retreat Commission, VP of the National Honor Society, Editor-in-Chief for the school newspaper. She also volunteered time at a local hospital. In addition, she volunteered for Habitat to Humanity. Allessandra has demonstrated the characteristics annually recognized by the U of M Club of Detroit’s President’s Scholarship.
Jeanne M. Kochkodan Detroit Country Day High School Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarship 2010/2011
Jeanne Kochkodan is the other recipient of the Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarship. She attended Detroit Country Day High School. Jeanne participated in Varsity volleyball and was team captain, Board Member of the Community Service Club, participated in the Big Sister Program and Character Education Committee. She also participated in the community, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, the Emmanuel Community Farm, Oakwood Heritage Hospital and Remote Area Medical. She was Academic Individual All-State in Volleyball. She also won a first place award for The Detroit News Excellence in Essay Writing.

Joshua Lipshaw is the recipient of the other David J. Hallissey Scholarship. Joshua graduated from Walled Lake Central. He had many accomplishments during his high school career. He participated in the Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, National Honor Society and took Advanced Placement courses. He participated in his community as secretary to the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, Ford Amateur Astronomy Club and other charitable organizations. Joshua embodies the characteristics in which the David J. Hallissey Scholarship was established.
Alexandria Miller Dakota High School Frederick C Matthaei Scholarship 2010/2011
Alexandria Miller is the other recipient of the Frederick C. Matthael Scholarship. She graduated from Dakota High School where she compiled an outstanding academic record. She participated in the National Honor Society, Student Government, Varsity Dance Team, Cultural Diversity & International Club, math tutoring and several Advanced Placement courses. She also volunteered at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Macomb Road Clean-Up and served as a tutor for Elementary School students. She will be taking pre-medicine courses at the University of Michigan.

Katie Mullins is the recipient of the other President’s Scholarship award. Katie is a graduate of Lakeview High School, where she participated as Vice President of the National Honor Society. Katie also tutored middle school students and worked as a manager at Cold Cow Ice Cream. In addition, Katie’s scholastic record is nothing short of stellar, as she was inducted into the Math, Spanish and English Honor Societies, while taking AP Chemistry, History and Calculus.
Jenna Ross Adlai Stevenson High School James H. LoPrete Scholarship 2010/2011
Jenna Ross is this year’s recipient of the James H. LoPrete Scholarship. Jenna attended Adlai Stevenson High School. During high school, she also took classes at the Utica Center for Math, Science and Technology. Perhaps most notably, she obtained a United States Design Patent for one of her inventions. She was a member of the World Champion ThunderChickens. She participated in the National Honor Society and FIRST Lego League. She was also involved in several community-related projects.

Kayla Wizinsky is this year’s recipient of one of two Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarships. Kayla attended Utica High School. She also took classes at the Utica Center for Math, Science and Technology. She was a participant in the FIRST Robotics ThunderChickens team. She also participated in Varsity Cross Country, Marching Band, Rocket Club, National Honor Society, Girl Scouts, AYSO Soccer and volunteer time at the Detroit Medical Center. She took numerous Advanced Placement courses and earned several honors and awards during her high school career.
